Ryuji Takasu has had a hard lesson in not judging a book by its cover. Despite his inherently kind personality, his unintentional intense gaze and tough appearance give off the impression of a delinquent, making it difficult for him to make friends and find romance. As he starts his first day as a high school junior, things seem to be looking up. He's seated next to his only friend Yusaku, and the girl he secretly likes, Minori Kushieda. However, his luck turns when he unintentionally crosses paths with the most feared girl in school, Taiga Aisaku, who becomes his worst enemy. To make matters worse, Taiga is now his new next-door neighbor and happens to be Minori's best friend! Will this school year ever get any better for Ryuji?
