Yamato's struggle against the White Comet Empire culminates with its return to Earth to assemble a new crew and undergo maintenance. Upon arriving to his homeworld Desler, Yamato discovers that the Black Nebula Empire is taking advantage of the planet's core resources. Directed by Toshio Masuda, Yoshinobu Nishizaki and Takeshi Shirato, the movie was written by Toshio Masuda, Leiji Matsumoto and Yoshinobu Nishizaki and stars Kei Tomiyama and Yôko Asagami.
