Blue Bees!!!! EEEEEEEE! Such a cutie!
The blue carpenter bee is all about the females. It’s the females who sport that brilliant blue pubescence (yep that’s what the fuzz is called), and the females alone wield a stinger. The males are stinger-less, and have a more subdued, brown or greenish fuzz.
Encased in a black or white plastic float frame with elasticity film which allows you to easily see both sides of the mantis. The plastic film allows you to better see the physical characteristics of your critter while keeping them safe. You can open the frame but it will probably damage your new insect friend.
The frame is approximately 3.75" x 3.75". 4" with base.
Xylocopa caerulea - The blue carpenter bee is found throughout Southeast Asia, India, and Southern China, and they’re known for being large and heavy bees that live solitary lives, and are generally non-aggressive.
A great addition to any cabinet of curiosities or classroom educational tool!
The critter pictured is an example of what you will be receiving. No worries, they are all about the same and super lovely.
