Everyone needs a little shrew skull friend hanging out in the corner! Or hanging off your ear (why not! these guys can make some killer earrings!)
Horsfield's treeshrew (Tupaia javanica), also called Javan treeshrew, is a treeshrew species within the Tupaiidae. It is endemic to the Indonesian islands of Sumatra, Bali, Java and Nias where it inhabits the foremost primary forest.
It was first described by Thomas Horsfield in 1822. Several subspecies have been proposed based on variation in colorization; however, color is an unreliable distinguishing character.
***NOTE***
Skulls are natural products and therefore not always perfect. Not all specimens look exactly the same and therefore slight deviations in patterns, size and color are possible. They are all cute regardless though!
