by Arthur Bremer
On May 15, 1972, a 21-year-old unemployed busboy named Arthur Bremer, who was heartbroken, attempted to assassinate Governor George Wallace of Alabama. Despite his previous failures, Bremer's attempt was unsuccessful. During his trial, the defense submitted a document, known to the FBI as "Manuscript Found in Bremer's Vehicle," which included the last 113 pages of a diary where he had been writing for months. The first 148 pages were supposedly buried by Bremer in the ground near his furnished room in Milwaukee's Near West Side.
